888-382-1222 – National DO NOT CALL list.
It will only take a minute of your time and it blocks your cell phone number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
Do it now and save yourself from annoying sales calls and paying for the minutes to listen to their sales pitch.

I read the government’s Do Not Call List website, and they don’t mention this as being urgent. Was wondering what your source is for the info. Thanks! (There are just so many urban Internet legends that I always check sources before giving out or contacting anyone related to the Web)

One of my close friends (a call center director for a very large, Philadelphia based outbound call center) sent me an email informing me about this and providing me the telephone number for the registry.
I work very hard to put quality, informative and honest information on this site. Use your own judgment on what you do with this information but for your own peace of mind, I did it and so did my friends and family.
