Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac v12.0.0 Beta Expires 11/12/2007!!

Posted on November 13th, 2007 in Computers | 5 Comments »

I received a copy of Microsoft’s Office 2008:Mac Beta which I quickly installed on my fresh new Leopard OS X Mac a few weeks back. I really wish I would have known to look for Microsoft’s expiration date on this beta release, now I am stuck having to downgrade and re-sync my exchange email accounts with the crap-ass Outlook 2004!!

The worst part about it is Microsoft hasn’t mentioned anything about releasing an updated beta license or download! Does anyone know what is going on? Any news on the next 2008 release? Got a work around??

I really wish there was a good alternative to Microsoft’s Outlook for Mac using exchange and not using IMAP or POP either!! I think it would be sick if Apple Mail had true exchange support with tie in to their calendar and etc… If you are aware of a solution out there that would allow me to cut the cord from Microsoft all together than let me know, I would love to see what I am missing!!

iPhone 1.1.2 Software Update Released!

Posted on November 12th, 2007 in Apple, Computers, wireless | 3 Comments »

I have the latest 8GB Apple iPhone with Jailbreak installed, Summerboard & Customize both running. I have just run all updated within my Jailbreak Installer and now will attempt the Apple released 1.1.2 update, I’ll let you know how it goes in a few!

BTW I just made a backup as well, LOL!

UPDATE (11/13/2007 @ 11:30PM): I remembered that I had installed OktoPrep on my iPhone which was located within the installer under 1.1.1 Tweaks. Because I installed that before upgrading to 1.1.2, my iPhone is ready for the latest Jailbreak!!

What I did from here was downloaded the latest Jailbreak from Conceited Software, extracted the files, and ran (while my iPhone is connected and all itunes services are stopped) the app (windows or mac files are included). After it installed I turned off my phone and turned it back on; I clicked the “ok” in the Jailbreak Complete! pop up and then it rebooted it again. Now I have a iPhone v1.1.2 + Jailbreak running perfectly!!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Goodbye Windows, Hello Apple.

It’s official, I have made the decision to migrate all my desktops and laptops to Apple after 15 years with Windows. The really funny thing about my situation is there are tons of people doing the same and I found that by going to Craigslist. Try this, go to your local Craigslist page and search computers for sale, you’ll notice a lot of people willing to trade for Mac’s and Macbooks.I have an extremely powerful and fast desktop computer by Dell, and a couple laptops by Compaq. I am replacing all of them with the following:1. Mac Pro (Desktop) - Dual Quad Core Intel Processors, 4GB Ram, 2TB Sata’s, 4 nVidia Graphics Cards, and 2 30″ LCD’s.2. Macbook Pro (Laptop) - 15″ 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram, 200GB.3. Macbook (Laptop) - 13″ - Black, 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB Ram, 250GB.I’ve already made the switch at my office and have been using my Mac Pro for months on a Windows 2003 Domain. I recently upgraded to Leopard OS X and am in heaven, goodbye Windows!!In addition to the computers I have already replaced my phone and my wife’s phone with Apple’s iPhone. We’re adding the Apple TV to the family room as well. We’re hooked!!Have you made the switch? Are you thinking about making the leap into the world of Apple computers and electronics? I am really interested to here your story.

Apple iPhone 8GB Review & Jailbreak

Posted on November 11th, 2007 in Apple, Computers, wireless | No Comments »

A few weeks back I went to the Apple retail store and picked up a 8GB iPhone for $399. I didn’t immediately post about the iPhone because like most things I buy I always think it is the best thing in the world for the first few days.

So it’s been close to a month using the Apple iPhone and I think this is just the best phone ever. It is very easy to use, fast response, and does everything I need and want in a phone. The only real thing that took some time getting used to is typing but after a good week or so it feels normal.

I have noticed 3 problems with the iPhone that are either from manufacturing defects or from lack of innovation. First being the camera. Taking pictures during the day with a lot of light works great but with little light its crap. Even with light it can still be a pain in the butt because you have to remain very still for a few seconds, even the slightest movement will completely blur your pictures. A flash would have been a smart idea for this phone to prevent this issue and allow people to use the camera in darker settings. Probably a battery killer though…

My next problem with the phone is the battery, or lack there of. Right off the bat I noticed that my phone was losing its charge pretty quick and from a full day of calls, emails, internet browsing, and pictures I’ll have a dead battery by the end of the night. I find myself now making decisions on whether I want to do certain tasks on my phone or not because of the battery which sucks but I make it work; I’ve never had the battery completely die so I am doing something right.

The third issue I have is more of a nuisance, the black cover on the back side of the iPhone at the bottom… It squeaks. When I hold my phone it squeaks, when I let go it squeaks. Thats all I have to say about that, LOL.

Aside from the three issues I wrote about above I totally love this phone and within the last two weeks I downloaded and ran Jailbreak. Now I have tons of applications and games and everything works great!

I would love to see what you guys think about Apple’s new iPhone and if you have run jailbreak yet.

Apple Safari 3 for Windows XP & Vista

I am very excited to see Apple has made their popular internet browser “Safari” available to us Windows users. I always have had to keep a little Mac around for testing purposes with Safari and with the release of Safari 3 beta for Windows I can finally kick this Mini Mac down to my son for his games and etc…
