I’ve consulted for a countless number of companies over the years and one thing I’ve noticed more recently is the concern many companies have for their online reputation. Social media allows anyone with something to say to be heard, everyone has a voice on the web and it’s up to you to find out what their saying about you and your company.

In the past I’ve set up my clients with Google Alerts to monitor what’s being said about them and who’s saying it. One of the downfalls of Google Alerts is it lacks features; it’s a strong tool but it’s missing the ability to monitor all social/search sites, produce RSS feeds and the ability to share the information effortlessly across your network of contacts.

Trackur goes beyond just Google content. It tracks images, videos, Digg, del.icio.us, Twitter, as well as the usual news and blog stuff. Trackur allows users to submit multiple keywords–such as their name, products, and brands–and automatically monitor news, blogs, images, video, and other social media for any mention of those keywords.

Users can view their results using a cool AJAX enabled interface and get updates via email or RSS. You can save multiple searches, add filter keywords, save discovered items, and sort the results the way you want. Think about this, by using RSS feeds you can quickly integrate the feeds into your company’s intranet site so the right people can have the right information without any extra steps! Even better, integrate these feeds directly into their email client and spare them their inbox!!

I just got turned on to this neat little application and I am hooked!

Music Rescue is an application that allows you to copy your (or anyone else’s) tracks to any computer you choose. If you’re not allowed to install iTunes (like at school or work), simply install Music Rescue onto your iPod at home and it’ll be available wherever you go - Mac or PC.

I installed Music Rescue on my Mac and all I had to do was plug in my iPhone and it transfered everything over, in MP3 format!! I grabbed my buddies video iPod and downloaded his entire library - all 22,000 MP3’s (which I quickly deleted because that is considered illegal… LOL). I now have a little over 44,000 MP3’s and growing! I totally recommend this application for any of you who have been burned by iTunes (I have lost hundreds of songs in the past and I can’t re-download them) or for the guys who just want to build their library like mad!!

KennettNet’s Music Rescue

Check out this neat tool to check and verify if your website is accesible in China. From what I hear RSS feeds seem to work fine but any feeds through FeedBurner seem to be blocked, can anyone verify this? I have no need to reach China surfers but I can see this being a problem for people who do.
